🌿 How We Ship Your Plants

At Alpine Green Nursery, we take great care to ensure your plants arrive safely, fresh, and healthy.

We ship most of our plants bare-rooted, which means they are gently removed from the soil and sent without pots. This method keeps the plants healthy during transit, reduces shipping weight, and makes them easier for you to repot once they arrive.

Plants We Ship as Bare-Rooted

We send the following types of plants as bare-rooted:

                      Succulents

                      Cacti

                      Haworthia

                      Sansevieria

And other similar drought-tolerant or low-maintenance plants

🛡️ Extra Plant Protection

Before packing, we clean the roots carefully and apply a light fungicide treatment to help prevent rot or fungal infections during shipping. Each plant is securely wrapped and cushioned so it reaches you in excellent condition.

🪴 How to Repot & Care for Your BareRoot Plants

Once your bare-rooted plant arrives, follow these steps to help it settle in and thrive:

📦 1. Unpack and Inspect

Open the package as soon as it arrives.

Gently remove the plant and inspect the roots.

If any roots look mushy, dried out, or overly long, trim them off with clean                           scissors or pruners.

✂️ Why trim the roots?

During transit, some roots may dry out or die. If left untrimmed, these can hold moisture, become soggy, and cause root rot after potting.

Trimming encourages healthy new root growth in the fresh soil environment.

So don’t worry—trim the roots confidently and then pot the plant.

•After trimming, place the plant in a cool, shaded, and well-ventilated space for 1–2 days to help it recover and form calluses on the roots.

🪵 2. Prepare for Potting

Choose a pot with good drainage holes to avoid water retention.

Use a well-draining soil mix. For most succulents and cacti:

60% inorganic matter (pumice, coarse sand, perlite)

40% organic mix (succulent or cactus soil)

Make sure the roots are dry before potting to prevent rotting.

🌱 3. Potting Your Plant

            1.         Add a layer of soil at the bottom of the pot.

            2.         Position the plant so that its base sits just above the soil level.

            3.         Gently fill in soil around the roots, lightly pressing to secure the plant.

            4.         Do not water immediately. Allow the plant to stay dry for 5–7 days to                                    recover.

☀️ 4. Aftercare

After the dry recovery period, give your plant a light watering and allow excess water to drain completely.

Place it in a spot with bright, indirect sunlight.

Gradually increase exposure to direct sunlight if required for the plant type.

💧 5. Ongoing Maintenance

Water only when the soil is completely dry. Avoid overwatering.

Wait 3–4 weeks before using any fertilizer.

Repot every 2–3 years or when the plant outgrows its container or the soil                           becomes compacted.
